Studded Tires

Aside from the common tires in the automotive enterprise, there is what we call studded tires. These tires are called studded due to the presence of studs within the grooves of the tread.

These are especially made to increase the car’s traction on icy or slippery winter roads.   On areas where there is harsh winter condition, the studded tires are used as an alternate to regular tires in order to run stable on a slippery road or one that is covered with thick snow.  Such tires have impressive pulling abilities that make them unique from regular tires.

Michelin X-Ice Xi2

Michelin X-Ice Xi2 is considered the best all-around snow tire there is. This tire can travel along any type of winter road without shaking or stumbling. It has a lower rolling resistance and better gas mileage as compared to many others. In fact, it can even level up to the more expensive snow tire models like the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5. Michelin X-Ice Xi2 works better on icy roads and can pass through deep snow better than some famous snow tires like Bridgestone Blizzak. The only downside of this is that, because it’s just new in the market, there is no concrete track record to prove its durability.  All the more, it’s a great winter tire for a price of $90.

Dunlop Graspic DS2

For a budget friendly price of $70, Dunlop Graspic D2 proves to be inexpensive wheel of security.  It can traverse on snowy surfaces with ease while keeping up with a good level of competence for both wet and dry roads. Most consumers testify a reliable road performance for this kind of snow tire.  However, on some expert road testing, this tire shows a low performance as compared to some expensive winter tires such as the Blizzak WS-60 and Bridgestone.  But as per durability, Dunlop Graspic DS2 sure knows how to stay in place on all types of road conditions.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5

Nokian Hakkepeliitta 5 is a common choice for consumers experiencing extreme winter condition. It is in fact recommended by most experts than any other snow tire.  This studded tire has metal teeth than can easily bite on icy roads and greatly shoves off a pile of snow ahead.  However, while it runs smoothly on icy roads, the negative side comes out as soon as you travel on a dry pavement. This tire tends to become noisy when traveling dry pavements since it cannot grip well on dry roads. Aside from that, it is also a bit expensive with a price of $165. But if you have the budget to purchase, Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 is quite a good pick.

Good year Eagle Ultra Grip GW3

A lot of studded tires out there are proven to essentially handle dry or wet roads with ease but fails to run smooth on icy and snowy roads; Good year Eagle Ultra Grip GW3 is an exception to that. This tire displays an impressive performance when it comes to severe winter roads.  However, while this tire excels on icy and snowy road, you’ll experience a tighter grip while travelling a wet or dry winter road. But then again, when we talk about performance, Good year GW3 still stands out among all winter tires for a price budget of $90.

Pirelli Diablo Corsa III

With its one of a kind structure, Pirelli Diablo Corsa III provides a friendly ride to motorbike enthusiasts. The mere shape of the tire offers safe handling for a rider as it is less aggressive compared to most designs intended for racing.  It is great for a rush road trip since it warms up quickly and it truly performs well just when you need it to. However, its disadvantage falls down on the steep price that can reach up to $161.95 and its low mileage. Nonetheless, it is a great tire with a long tread life.
